At various times we all have a time when we are down spiritually. Psalm 42:5 asks why?
“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.”
True believers can beat the B-L-U-E-S.
B – Believe the positives that you find in reading the Bible. Turn off any negatives around you and concentrate on and dwell on positives, looking for the good in other people and circumstances.
“...whatsoever things are of good report;... think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8)
L – Look for the purpose God is using or allowing in discouragement that will strengthen His own. We may be tested but we can be brought through trials and be as gold in the end.
“...after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.” (I Peter 5:10)
U – Utilize the promises of God as He put forth in the Bible. While reading God’s Word, watch for the promises, remember them and refer to them. In this way you can obtain the benefits God has for you. Paul tell us in Romans 15:4,
“...that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.”
E – Encourage other people once we are able to know how to help ourselves. Many people we come in contact with are having problems or are having the BLUES. We should reach out to others and help them, seeing we have found the answers to life in God’s Word. By helping others it will enable us to solve our own difficulties. Paul said in II Corinthians 1:4,
“...that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.”
S – Sing God’s praises to all around us. We often do not praise God enough. Praising God will lift us out of despair. King David said in his songs,
“But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee (God) more and more.” (Psalm 71:14) “Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.” (Psalm 66:2)
There you go! Five ways to beat the B-L-U-E-S. God Bless you.
