Sometimes it is hard to be upbeat and positive. Listening to most news casts on T.V. or electronic devices will make you depressed. We must find a way to stop feeding our minds with negative thoughts. Philippians 2:5 starts us in the correct direction; “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.” Don’t allow negatives to dominate our minds. Think, “…Whatsoever things are of good report… think on these things.” (Philippians 4:8). We must take deliberate action, replacing negative thoughts with positive ones and the keeping of an optimistic outlook.
We must also have positives in sounds, not the filth that is all around us, in voice and music. To place ourselves in a positive position we must look for good and wholesome sounds and listen for God’s still small voice and heed His Word, the Bible. Isaiah 22:14 says, “And it was revealed in mine ears by the Lord…”
Thirdly, we must desire only positive sights. There are many very negative commercials and programs on T.V. and videos. If we see and dwell on bad or negative sights, it will pull us down spiritually. To be a positive person of God we must look at good things and look to Jesus. Hebrews 12:2 gives us advice; “Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith…”
Fourthly, we must speak positive words. Do not restate or remember bad or evil events. It will only increase to worse words and stories. We should speak of positives, of God’s goodness, grace and love. That will bring glory to God. Psalm 105:2 tells us “talk ye of all his wondrous works.”
Fifth, we should perform positive deeds or works for God. Many people look for false deeds, dishonest actions that displease God. We must be truthful, ready to uplift people and witness for Christ. Paul told the believers in Colossians 3:23 “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;”
Lastly to be a positive believer we must not let the wrong influence us nor should we place ourselves in wrong or evil locations. We must seek out wholesome entertainment. We must be pro-active as a believer and choose the good way. Choose to attend church faithfully, and don’t forget other church activities or programs. Go with God and He will be with you. King David said, “I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house (church) of the LORD.” (Psalm 122:1).
So here I’ve given you six ways to be positive and protect your future. In this world, we may sing while in jail for the Lord’s cause, and we should rejoice because we suffered for the cause of Christ.Jesus kept positive thoughts during the last hours of His life. Those thoughts included “Father, forgive them.” (Luke 23:34). Jesus listened for positive sounds. Even the swords and staves, or a betrayer and false witnesses could not sway His resolve to do His Father’s will. Jesus’ words and deeds were positive. He asked His captors to let the disciples go and He healed Malchus’ ear. Jesus reminded His captors “I sat daily with you teaching in the temple…” Jesus left us an example of attendance in a positive place, teaching and winning souls for God’s Kingdom.
Let’s follow Jesus’ footsteps.
